Deadly 60 Deadly Jungle Playset

Deadly 60 Jungle Playset

We received the Deadly 60 Deadly Jungle Playset by Character Building from BBC Shop. It’s a set based on the CBBC’s Deadly 60 series where Steve Backshall attempts to track down 60 of the world’s deadliest animals. We have yet to see Deadly 60, but after reading more about it I definitely want to watch it with the kids.

The Deadly Jungle Playset comes with a Silverback Gorilla figure and everything you need to build his habitat, plus a factsheet at the back of the instructions. I knew straight away that Little S would like this set. If he can build it, he loves it! He did well reading the instructions by himself with Mummy on standby to help.

S starts to build his Deadly Jungle Playset

Most of the pieces went together quite easily, although S did struggle putting the palm leaves onto the tree trunks. They are quite a tight fit. We had the opposite problem with the little clumps of grass that come off easily if you knock them. S liked that the set isn’t just made up with bricks – the leaves and trees were a bit more interesting for him. He especially liked that the tree trunks bend so you get more realistic looking trees.

The set came with a few spare pieces which is always a bonus. There are only instructions for one set up, but we think an alternative layout would be good for a bit of a variety. S likes to make his own layouts though, and there are plenty of pieces for him to do so.

There are other Deadly 60 sets that you can build and connect together to build up your own deadly animal habitats. This set is £14.99 and the other sets range in price from £9.99 to £29.99, which I think is quite reasonable compared to similar building sets.
